Ilha do Farol

Ilha do Farol.jpg

There are 2 ferries from the port of Olhão. 1 leaves for the village (and island) Armona, and the other goes to the island of Farol and  Culatra.

Farol and Culatra are actually two villages which are situated on the same island. The ferry will first stop in Culatra and then it will go to Farol.

Farol is on the far West and Culatra on the East, both villages have restaurants and small shops. The beaches are extensive and both have blue flags.

There is sanitary, first aid and there are sunbeds and umbrellas for rent

By ferry it will take up to 45 minutes before you arrive on Culatra and 60 minutes to go to Farol. The trip is beautiful as you will go trough the natural park 'Ria Formosa'. Costs of the ferry €2,- per person single way (€4,- return).

Check the timetable of the ferry times.

When you don't want to spent that long on the ferry, take the private taxi. You will be there in 15 minutes! Price for single way is €40,- up to 5 people. There is no timetable for the private taxi's, they will run throughout the whole day.

TIP: take the ferry to Culatra and walk (about 2 km over the beach) to Farol and get on the ferry there to go back to Olhão.
